WATERCOLOURS 2000
During the last two years I have looked for new, more direct ways of developing my ideas. As with printmaking techniques, watercolour uses transparent layers built up one over the other to create luminosity. The "de Chene" paper which is used for printmaking is sized allowing for the slow drying and settling of pigment into the hills and valleys of the paper. This proved very suitable for the abstract textural approach, and when combined with big pans of watercolours, and big dishes of colour wash, I could build up the layers of fresh, intense, textured colour while still being able to use fine sharp line and edges. First exhibited at the New Academy Gallery, October 2000
There follows a selection
of these works. Commissions would be considered.
